Arrowtown Mountain Biking

Arrowtown, you beauty!

Who knew Arrowtown had such a dynamic set of mountain biking trails?  Recently I was invited out by mountain biking athlete and Queenstown local Jimmy Pollard to go out on a mission into the Arrowtown high country trails to practise some sunset content.

He is an e-bike aficionado and recently picked up the new Merida E-160 e-bike, and wanted to put it through it’s paces.  So we went up the Arrowtown river trails, headed up Tobin’s Track, around the back of Mount Beetham, and ended up climbing up the Crown Peak Summit Track.

That was my first time up there, but it was incredible to see just how quickly you can feel very far away from the world out there.  We climbed up what felt like an old miner’s route, until Jimmy found his sweet spots and we got to shooting.  It was amazing to watch him put the bike through it’s paces and to smoothly navigate some very challenging terrain.

We ended up with some incredible light at the end of the night, and captured some of my favourite sunset biking imagery to date.

This was a practise session and unpaid shoot, but was a great way for us to get to push our creativity together and come up with some great content.
